The Francis W. Gramlich Philosophy Prize

In memory of Professor Gramlich, a member of the Dartmouth Philosophy Department from 1940 to 1972, a modest monetary prize was established in 1973 through gifts from alumni of the Bell System Humanities and Management Development Programs, former students and colleagues, and from AT&T. It is awarded annually to the philosophy major who best exemplifies those qualities of mind and character that Professor Gramlich sought to develop in his students.

The Story Philosophy Prize

A book prize of a modest monetary amount, established in 1904 through a gift from Joseph Story of Boston (Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States, 1812-1845), is awarded to the member of the senior class who presents the best Senior Honors Thesis on a subject in Philosophy.

Philosophy Faculty Prize

Established May 2015. The Department will fund a prize to be awarded to a graduating senior Philosophy major who has done outstanding work throughout his or her career as determined by the Philosophy Department Faculty.
