Post-Doctoral Fellowship (Political Economy Project) invites applications

DARTMOUTH COLLEGE, Hanover, New Hampshire. The Department of Philosophy at Dartmouth College, in conjunction with the Political Economy Project at Dartmouth, invites applications for a two-year post-doctoral fellowship for recent Ph.D.s, ordinarily in Philosophy, to begin July 1, 2018.

Position description: The Political Economy Project (PEP) is an interdisciplinary initiative focused on normative questions at the intersection of politics, economics, and philosophy. The majority of the fellow’s time will be devoted to independent research. The fellow will teach two courses per year in Philosophy, at least one of which will be directly related to political economy. The courses will be taught in separate quarters, and will range from introductory to advanced levels. The selected candidate will hold an appointment as a Lecturer in the Philosophy Department and as a Postdoctoral Fellow in PEP, and will be in-residence for the Fall, Winter, and Spring quarters. The fellow is expected to attend and actively assist in planning PEP and Philosophy events, and otherwise participate in the intellectual life of PEP, the Philosophy Department, and the College. The fellow will also join the broader community of postdoctoral research fellows that includes the Dartmouth Society of Fellows, the John Sloan Dickey Fellows, the Neukom Institute Fellows, the Rockefeller Center Fellows, the Quantitative and Social Sciences Fellows, and the Mellon Postdoctoral Fellows in the Humanities and Humanistic Social Sciences. Salary is competitive and includes benefits; the appointment is not tenure-track. AOS: Applied Ethics, Social and Political Philosophy, Ethics, Philosophy of Social Science.

Qualifications: Candidates should have a Ph.D. prior to September 15, 2018.

Candidates should submit via Interfolio a cover letter, current CV, writing sample (no more than 25 pages), statement of research (no more than 3 pages), graduate transcript, three confidential letters of reference, and teaching evaluations. A successful candidate will show evidence of outstanding scholarship and effective teaching.
